Did you hear that on the internet? If that were true, you could break the countershaft by down-shifting. No, NOBODY has ever broken a counter-shaft by pop starting a Harley.

When having trouble with my sporty I had to do this several times rolling to a stop, bike would die. Never bothered the bike.

chrisp,
You are right, there aint nothing more frustrating than pushing
a scoot around a parking lot for awhile only to discover the run
switch in the off position.:cussing

I would think the trans main shaft would be more susceptible to breakage than the counter shaft in any situation.

Are there any stock bikes out there with a combination of a carb and six speed transmission? It seems like there might not be - at least in the big twin.
