I have a 2007 Heritage Softail and replaced the port exhaust gaskets with my own special tool that may work on most harleys if your using the OEM tapered port gasket..... I am writing this in hopes of helping at least one person out there in my same situation where I tried to avoid destroying the gasket. The tool I used is a tapered retention nut on the end of dumbells. Holy crap, did this guy just say he used the nut on the end of dumbells to insert these pain in the A$$ gaskets??? Yes, it is the perfect diameter and angle of the tapered gasket. it's base is a star-shape which fits between the studs. I have read a million posts and searched U-Tube and found only advertisements to buy a special tool or using sockets to pound the gasket in place. The dumbell was sitting in front of me in the garage when I placed the gasket on it and it fit perfectly. 3 light taps and it was in & seated in all the way without any hassle. I hope someone benefits from this.
