Find one and post up! Maybe it's one of your favorites. If any background information on the location or why it is, share if so inclined.

I'll start. Here's probably my fave. It was a frigid and windy winter day at 10,000ft. Maybe part of the reason I'm fond of the pic -- knew the price I paid to get here ...

And here's why I stopped (unplanned) to take the pic. Wind blowing snow across the road. Thought about riding through slowly but was afraid I'd become a hood ornament on a tractor/trailer blasting through behind me!

You and your Bubba comments. Hilarious! Oh yeah, I would have made it... either on my own or escorted in the grill of a Peterbilt!

Bubba is my guiding light. what could be bad about the "view from the grill"?

I'm gonna get you a bumper sticker "Bubba is my guiding light" Heheheh.

View from the grill would probably be OK come to think of it... if my eyeballs and brain were still operational!

Independence Pass

OK, Here is a rare one with me in it. I can't use this for the "where is this" so I'll put it here. Note the melted trash bag on the exhaust which I picked up in Hays Kansas (still there).

smoothrod... very nice. With the looks, appearance, and the one with the front wheel catching air, I think an apt description would be don't-mess-with-me-rod!
Hey smoothrod......Didn't I catch you and pass you at KC International Raceway :D

I think I still have that timeslip. I'm gonna frame it for posterity's sake!!!

Great pic. I think you'll always fondly remember standing at the top of Independence Pass, above 12,000 feet, with the bike taking you there. Will definitely try to record this pass next summer!

I can see what that melted trash bag did. Any progress getting some of it/all of it off?

Yes. If I flew and rented, or trailered the bike, I doubt that I would be so fond of the picture.
Recording the pass for everybody would be great, but let it be known that I will make a similar recording, because it was the greatest motorcycle experience I have had so far. I am including pictures that I took after parking the bike at random spots and hiking into the woods a little.

I still have the stain on the exhaust. I heard that oven cleaner might help, but I think its a battle scar, and I wear it proudly. Maybe this winter I'll consider a makeover to remove the unsightly blemish.

Hope you can return to make a recording. I've seen few, if any Independence Pass recordings and yet it is a well known ride for those making the high altitude journey.

I can totally see the value of keeping battle scars. Can always be the source for a story. If making an effort to try oven cleaner over the winter to remove some of the scarring :), can verify it works, just need to be careful...

- After a ride and about five minutes after shutting off the bike, with the pipes still hot, but not very hot, spray something like Easy Off on the affected area.

- Important... this stuff is nasty and do not let overspray get on other parts of the bike. Wipe away immediately if it does, better is to place towels or something to cover other nearby parts of the bike.

- Let the oven cleaner do its work and after cool down grab a spray cleaner/polish with an old t-shirt and go to work on the area.

- Have used this as well as finger nail poish remover to remove burnt on shoe sole rubber from my loving and friendly passengers :).

Karlos... Had an '03 VRSCA like yours. Sweet. Especially like the pic of the kids. I rented an E-Glide through NSW... several months after the Sydney Olympics. Fantastic time. The road pics bring back memories. You've probably not heard of the Putty Rd. NW of Sydney for it is still far from Brisbane, but the second image with the forested hills reminds me of it.

One other add... Was in Melbourne a year ago during the Melbourne Cup with some ladies from SouthPort? south of Brisbane? They had won a contest (25 nationally) and it included a day at the horse track. I was there to be a part of the festivities and had a fantastic time with these four ladies. But don't tell my wife.

Southport? Man, I went to school in Southport, at The Southport School (go figure. Pic below. It's a suburb of the Gold Coast, right next to Surfers Paradise. The house I lived in can be seen in this pic, on the river near the top of the field uppermost in the picture. It was a short walk to school when I lived there, across an old pipe over a creek.

Those pics I posted are from the Gold Coast. The one with Beach in the background is on top of Greenmount Headland. The green ones are heading into and around the Gold Coast Hinterland, near Mt Tamborine.

Here is a bigger picture of Southport (and the School) and the view over to Surfers Paradise

raebear... Great pics. What is the location... appears to be recent? Snow?
1. Powderhorn looking north
2. Utah Hwy 31 going northwest from Huntington then 264 to the T with 96 then into Scofield and back to US 6 to Price
A few weeks ago, snow? yup, starting to collect in the high country. Gotta watch those corners and shadows.
