Quiet Baffles

I just took delivery of a Softail Duece. It has V&H Big Shots on it.

For the sake of the neighbors I bought some Quiet Baffles.

After doing some reading here it comes to my attention that I may have to do something with the jets. What is that all about?

Install the baffles and see how it runs. You may not have to change anything. But by going to a more restrictive, quieter baffle, you are changing the exhaust velocity out of the engine, which may have an effect on how your engine reacts. Usually people are going the other way, getting more air through the engine by adding a high flow air cleaner and opening up the exhaust to make it louder. In that case they typically need to add more fuel to keep the engine from running too lean and really hot. You're going the other way with the exhaust. But you might be just fine with that one minor change. Try it and see.
I put quiet baffles in my '07 and didn't change anything and it seems to run at least as good. I think the P.O. dyno-tuned it straight open. I don't think they are very restrictive, or much quieter. :)
There are baffles in the pipes already. I don't know what kind though. I guess I will have to get them out to see.

Hmmm, no difference, huh?

Might be you already have themin your pipes. A friend has those pipes and they appear to be straight through. I Didn't see them before install. I Have V&H twin slash and if you look they are straight through.
I Would be curious to see them and how they are different from stock.
Upon further inspection there is something in there, but the hole goes all the way thru.

After it stops snowing and warms up a bit I will dig them out and see what I have.

The stock baffles are straight through, but a little smaller diameter and have cheese grater looking holes in them. The quiet baffles will stop a broomstick if you get stopped and reduce the noise a bit. I am a CHS member, but my ears ring so bad all the time (tinnitis)I had to cut the sound a bit on mine and don't have to worry as much about the law. :)
