Rear Caliper Screen?

2443 Views 8 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  dub
I just finished installing new brake pads, a speed bleeder and bleeding the rear brake caliper on my '09 Ultra classic. It now occurs to me that there isn't a screen over the caliper like there is on the front calipers. Should there be?

The manual references removing the screens when working on the front calipers but doesn't mention screens when listing maintenance steps for the rear caliper. Looks naked without a screen.

Thanks

You can try entering your bike in this parts finder to see if one is even listed for your application. My 08 Road King did not have a screen on the rear caliper.

Hey thanks. Sure enough....diagram and parts list doesn't show a screen for the rear caliper.....but does for the front calipers.
FYI - Harley does sell one for the rear #42053-05

The Harley store says it is $29.95 and it's for VRSC models. What is that? V-Rod? Thanks, anyway.
It will run faster without it less weight
Get chrome ones for the front then put the oem one on rear?

Interesting thought but I already have enough chrome on my bike to sink the Titanic. Also, I think the rear caliper is a different shape than the front calipers and unlikely to fit the front caliper screens, even though same pads are used front and rear. Thanks.
none on rear
