replacing hard bags

Hi Folks,
Looking at a 2010 road king and what seems to be popping up for sale are the custom. Don't care much for the soft leather looking bags and don't want to put on the hard bags with the old style hard to manoeuvre ones.
So, has anyone purchased the new, one handed, project rushmore style bags?
If so, how hard to put on? Do they use the same brackets and how much for them?
Thanks

I believe the bags can be retrofit, but I can't recall if you need the new style support brackets, or rework the old style brackets. Either way, you will be buying brackets, from what I remember, as the leather bags use a completely different bracket altogether.
Yes you are right they can be fitted with new hardware.
The pre-Rushmore bikes used the same brackets hard or leather bags.

When switching from one to the other you had to loosen the brackets and make a slight adjustment when fitting them.

Did that mod on my misses 07 Roadking, worked perfectly.

I have no idea if the Rushmore bags will mount on the pre-14 brackets.

Arent those Rushmore bags still pretty spendy?

will fit earlier years. I have a 2012 FLHP it had the typical police bags with the hockey pucks. I put a set of 2014 bags on with no problems at all. You have to loosen the front bag mount until lined up and then tighten. The 2014 + bags are great with the new latch system.

Oh boy.......the cost well I got the bags on eBay, bags and lids only. I got lucky cause the bags were already vivid black so I didn't have to worry about getting them painted. I had to buy all the hardware from my local dealership. Bags and lids were 600 bucks. All hardware including locks from dealer was 900 bucks. I priced out everything from the dealer before buying and they wanted like 2k for all, bags, lids and hardware color matched. So I saved a few bucks going the route I went.

But I have since seen on eBay complete sets of 2014 bags with all hardware for much less. The only issue is getting them painted. Locally I got a price from my painter for 300 bucks.

Yeah I said the same thing......double ouch. But I had 2 things for me, one was replacing the police bags (hockey pucks) and second I really wanted those new style bags too. So I took the plunge and have loved it. To me worth every nickel.
