shift lever loose

It appears as tho that is excessive and I feel that you will have to remove the chaincase. Could try a new lever first on splines but you might have to change trans shaft as well. I replaced that pinchbolt with a hardened one, it helped, but it is still loose. This will be a winter project for me. Good luck

I had the same thing on my 09 RG. Lucky for me it was under warranty. The shaft in the transmission was fine, the dealer just replaced the arm.
Dave 63 posted this a couple of months ago, advised all to inspect. I will try to find the thread later, I should do some work now.

shift linkage

I had the same thing happen to me quite a while back. I was fortunate as the screw just backed out and jammed the linkage. If the linkage come's out far enough it can jam between the inner primary case and not let you shift at all. The close distance between the end of the trans shaft and the inner primary case does not allow the link to fall off, but in the same respect you cannot change the linkage without removing the inner primary. Consider yourself lucky if all that's needed is realignment and screw tightening. Check it frequently of use some blue lock tite in the screw threads.
