i have a 2005 sporty 1200. ran ok then had 2 bad backfires upon starting. took to dealer, rebuilt carb, got it back running on one cylinder. fouled plug. took it back an they played with it for a week and said they need to get deep into motor. i installed a new s&s carb kit-nice unit! no help. replaced the crank position sensor, voltage regulator no help. no error codes. then i disconnected the map sensor an plugged outlet. fired bike an still no error codes. it runs so rich it foules plugs in three miles an tons of black smoke. could it be an ecm prob? carb is set up right and i have tried smaller jets with no difference.PLEEEEEZE HELP ME!!!

If I’m following correctly, it’s worse than before you paid dealer a boat load of cash to fix it...

I would say they need to make it right on their dime.

Backfire sounds like Ignition rather than Carb issue. Got it back running on one cylinder, Ignition again. Did you Rebuild or replace the Carb? What did they need to "Get deep in the Motor" to do? Lots of Questions here.

I had a 66 sportster and I could get it to run on the frt cylinder or the back cylinder I messed with it for two weeks, then I replaced the cams, one had slipped on its shaft. couldnt tell by looking at it, just enough to screw up yhe timing.
