I have a shovelhead stroker motor that my father built before he died and the cylinder jugs are stamped (like they're supposed to be) with the part number but on an adjacent side, they are stamped with an X. Is there any significance to this? Also, on another side of the front cylinder, behind the pushrods, 0249 is stamped as well~ does anyone know what they mean?

9. Fins. But how does that figure into the equation? I've got jugs that have 9 some have 10 and one set of finless

Forgive my ignorance but inquiring minds want to know & I have heard the number of fins on a cylinder means something but I don't remember exactly what it means.

Judging from the pics I'd say those would be stock cylinders with stroker plates under the cylinders.
Oh, and as far as the X and numbers, I don't know.
