I am new to this forum and just got my first Harley last fall. I appreciate any help that might be given.

I have a 91 Soft tail and I have a strange problem. When I am accelerating over a bumpy road (like washboardy gravel and similar bumps) the engine revs up. I know, I know - its not wheel spin. It seems like the clutch is slipping or the belt is slipping. Normal roads it works fine so that eliminates the clutch. Belt seems tight.

Any ideas?

The engine revs up but bike doesn't speed up, just like wheel spin but its not. This even happens at anything more that light acceleration but only over a rough road. Smooth road you can poor the coals to her and all is good (makes me smile too!)

I checked the throttle cable anyways and it seem fine, also the clutch cable. Is there anything that could make the clutch release over bumps? Or the belt slip?
