Harley won't honor my warranty on my 2013 Street glide because it's a US bike imported to Canada. What a crock of shit. All Harleys are made in the US. I have to spend about 1500 bucks to reinstate warranty to make it into a true Canadian bike even though I have a Canadian title all legit according to Canadian law. I have to put a Canadian speedo in it (400) plus a safety check (700) to get warranty back. Harley can suck my big fat ****. Now I find out that the cam & lifters are failing in the 103's as early as 15,000 miles. WTF. Mangine buying a new Chevy and after a year the motor blows. This is total BULLSHIT.

I agree it's BS. Harley made it, and they should be standing behind their work. If you were to bring it back to the US to a dealer there, would they still deny the warranty?
Can't believe only one feedback so far on this thread. If you guys are happy with your rides, even though you might get 15,000 miles before she explodes, so be it.
I knew I'd have to put lifters in my bike right away, and a compensator every couple years. Warranty sucks 'cause most of us replace cams and tuner and that blows it.

Like the other guy said, what if you took your bike to a US Harley dealer?
....... 'cause most of us replace cams and tuner and that blows it.

Not always true. The MoCo must prove those changes are the cause of whatever failure you are claiming under warranty.

If a Dealer does the work then the warranty should remain good.

It's Saturday....give 'em time. The guys will be here, and hope you get some advice that helps.
Total BS on the warentee in Canada on a side note never heard of such a problem with cam and lifters even with custom addons.
I'd want to see the fine print that backs up what the MOCO told you .
And now it begins !

You're crying that you only got 1 response in the 2 hours since you started this thread?:what?

And I got more than 15k on my bike, still hasn't exploded.:blahblah:

You're lucky you only have to swap out the speedo to retain a warranty.....

Try to retain your warranty on a Honda, Accura, Chrysler, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Infiniti, GM, Mercedes-Benz, or Volkswagen and see what it takes to keep it.

Hell, try buying a camera in the US and get warranty work done in Canada, or vice versa.
Some times the shop as well as the warentee can make or break your ownership loyality.
Try another shop before you give up on the Motor Co.

z006 - I think the warranty issue is getting the best of you right now. Yes spending extra cash to reinstate the warranty is BS. As far as the cam and lifters are concerned, did I miss something? Have yours gone bad or you just heard they might? I have not heard of them going bad at 15K miles. I've owned 7 Harley's and never had an issue with any of them.

That's the very same thing I was thinking. Has any one else heard of these problems with the 103?

Nope.
Not till now...but to be on the safe side I am going to tear down my motor just for the hell of it and give it a look..:eek
Your not alone my friend...they pull this garbage all the time, seems to be part of their corporate culture...kind of like the motorcycle mafia...nlol.
700 bucks for a safety check...tell them you like to get kissed when you get...
Myself and a riding buddy had obvious warranty claims for failed high cost parts and install and this same hd dealer told us both that it would not be covered...with a straight face...
We reminded them professionally what was going to happen and they quickly changed their tune and fixed it...nlol. Unprofessional scumbags...after they fixed mine, they acted like little kids, would not talk to me and actually told me not to come back...lol, no problem there...lol.
My brothers brand new heritage had three cranks go in the first thousand miles. On the third one, they told him that ther Never was a problem in the first place and they would not do anymore...the engine sounded like a bulldozer and could not be ridden...he called his lawyer and it was fixed with se parts and a free extended engine warranty...
I swear they just test you to see if your stupid...
The answer is competition like victory and indian. Love my rocker but would never give them five cents again.
Good luck.

plus a safety check (700) to get warranty back.
Whaaaaaaat?

A "safety check" for $700.

Man.....Canadians took a good lesson from American greed.
Is it Harley Davidson that is denying your warranty, or the crook that controls all Harley Davidson business in Canada? I may be wrong, but I thought one company had sole control of all HD in Canada? Deeley?
That's right Deeley. That's who I talked to. Dealers in Canada have to follow their rules. Dealer tells me my cam chain tensioners might be failing. Loud engine rattle that won't go away at any speed. Bike still performs well with 32lb pressure. Told me that the tensioners need to readjust themselves to tighten everything back up, which should happen soon. If it still has a problem in another 1000 miles, bringer in. Could this be right?? Contacted a Harley dealer in Watertown NY & I still have warranty on the bike till May/15. It's a 3.5 hour drive, but might have to do it soon.
That's the very same thing I was thinking. Has any one else heard of these problems with the 103?
Service manager told me they've had to repair 5 103 engines for this reason. Cam chain tensioner failing. One engine had to be replaced completely because of shrapnel throughout the motor. All engines had less than 20,000 miles on them.
