Softail running light

Low millage 2007 Heritage, was riding this weekend and the key light turned on while riding (this is new). Ended up at my location and my buddy told me my left rear running light was out. Turn signal works on the left side just no running light, all other lights work on the bike. There are just two wires running to this lamp, as it is a single filament bulb. Anyone run into this issue? Any ideas? Thanks

The rears aren't running lights just directionals unless they've been converted to run, stop, brake. There would be a module for that under the seat someplace.

The left and right side illuminate when the bike ignition is on. They are not brake lights, the center light on the fender does that, and when a turn signal is selected they flash. Like I stated one is unfortunately not illuminating but it is flashing when signal is selected.
Maybe we're misunderstanding what you're trying to say, can you take a picture of the bike and exactly which light in question?

Because other than the taillight or a fender tip light, a stock Harley does not have a running light in the back at all. I don't think any of them ever did, and the rear turn signals have always been turn only, never run and turn unless converted to run/brake/turn by an aftermarket module as schmidty said.

So this is what the rear lights look like when the ignition is on and the bike is running down the road. Currently the left light (round) is not illuminated with ignition on and running, while the right side is. The left light even though it is not illuminated, when the left turn signal switch is selected the left light will flash. The bulb is an 1156 so a single filament bulb.

This is what is stumping me. The turn signal on the left side works, but when the signal is canceled, and the light should remain ON it is not, but it definitely use to as seen in the picture. The only brake light on the bike is in the center on the fender.

Someone may have installed a module that makes the rear signals act like running/turn signals.

I had one on my previous bike. Probably located under the seat plugged in series with the turn signal wiring.

Thanks for the info, I'm going to look into that scenario when I get back to the bike.
I see your taillight is LED, so someone has done some modifications back there. Definitely trace the wires and see if there's a module there, and let us know what the module is (if there's a name on it), or take a picture.

If you're using incandescent bulbs in the turn signals, I don't know how that works with a module that converts them to run/brake/turn. I also don't know which module you have, but generally a running light should be half as bright as a stop or turn light after the conversion, so even with the picture you provided, it's clear something is wrong as the signals should not be that bright in running mode.

If it's a plug-n-play module, it would be plugged in between the main wiring harness and the rear lighting harness, and that plug is usually located under the seat somewhere.

There may or may not also be a load equalizer somewhere, and that might also be a problem.
