Here is my 98 with 4 hogtune speakers, fairing and passenger pods,
with the HD amp under tour pak. This was way before Pez had his
Amp setup. Actually I think he may have got the idea when I sent
him this video after installing his speakers.
My Wife's bike has only Hogtune speakers and no amp.
YES there is a difference ! Now is it worth $80 or whatever
you pay for them ? That depends on WHAT you are looking for.
IMHO ... Well worth the money. What I liked is that you can
play music LOUDER and it does not get as distorted as the
stock speakers get. Now is it worth the extra $$$ just for that ?
Remember it is a motorcycle with wind, motor noise and maybe loud
pipes. So it ain't gonna be like sitting on your couch at home listening
to a killer stereo system. For that kind of quality you will probably be
looking at dropping close to $1,000 for a Hawg Wired system.
Just an FYI ...
I live in a very rural area and the 1st stop sign onto a main road from
my house is atleast 800 feet away. My Wife hears me at that stop sign
listening to my music like I am in the driveway. Granted I enjoy my music
VERY LOUD (like being at a Concert) and I ride with it like that 90% of the
time. It is better than having loud pipes because people can't WHINE to
me about pipes cus my music blocks them out .... LOL ....
I love my hogtunes. Speakers by themselves made a huge improvement from stock (louder, clearer)... the amp came in while I was on the road... will install it before the weekend... I would expect it to help with the bass output as well as MORE BETTER VOLUME!
Update - got the amp, installation was very fast/simple and the results are every bit of what I expected. My iPod rocks LOUD and CLEAR. Maybe over the winter I'll get back in there and re-route the "umbilical cord" through the fairing and get rid of that 'spaghetti' hanging off my handlebar.
I emailed Hogtunes a couple days ago and wanted to know if there number was a toll free number and ask them a couple of question on the product and still haven theard a peep from them !!! i guess i will look into J&M speakers .
Well I went and p/u some J&M speakers there not bad but tell you the truth I'm not overwhelmed with them. I guess I was expecting more over all sound , I’ll be returning these back to the HD shop this week and look for another alternative ,anybody know if I could use a 4ohm speaker ?.
Thanks ,I ended up ordering the '09 Hog tunes w/ amp kit from Dr.VTwin ,I am expecting them in Saturday cant wait ,heard alot about them and The Dr, installed a set Today and said they were awesome .
I got mine with HOGTUNES and I have been very happy. I don't think anyone has commented on the fact that if you break or blow your speakers out, HOGTUNES will replace them! HOGTUNES come with a 20 year warranty. I have used the warranty twice and must saw that I am very happy.
I have also read several people are using J&M speakers and some other marine grade speakers. To each his own I guess.
try the Hertz hcx 130. are you adding an amp too.
if you just change the speakers you get a speaker that CAN sound better but WILL need more power to do so. if you just add an amp you will make the factory speakers louder but they usually cant handle the extra power. try looking at the hertz hcx130 and the ARC ks 125 mini. placed them against a lot of hog tunes and j&m.
