Just did my first oil change only to find when I tried to torque the rear bolt on the inspection cover the bolt stripped. This is the small 2 screw panel. Any suggestions about whats involved to fix this. Heli coil but this requires drill and tap so the entire case would need to be removed I think to avoid shavings getting into the gear case. 2010 Sportster. Thanks

The threaded tab is pretty small, there might not be enough meat for a helicoil.

Just to finish off this thread I removed the little panel to find the entire anchor is torn away from the casting sooo, new chain cover for me. $450 cnd. Last guy must of ham fisted the bolt in and compromised the structure. Remember, the torque wrench is your friend. Cheers Intermediate cover.jpg
