Tank Rise Kits for WideGlide

3093 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  THE ROAD
Buds,

I have a bad ass 2012 WideGlide with some mods. My only complaint with the bike is it still looks like a motorcycle and not a chopper (ala Big Dog or OCC).

Has anyone ever put on a tank lift kit to give the bike a more chopper look? I have heard that some HD dealers will not touch the bike after putting on lift kits because the electronics can be damaged.

Step away from the Wide Glide and call Paul Jr. He can hook you up wit OCC or PJD or whatever it is and no wide glides will be harmed in the process, Bud.

DK products makes a nice tank raise kit for reasonable cost. Makes diff. heights also. I have one on my rocker and it works great. Very professionally manufactured product.
Welcome to the crew!
I have a 2 1/2 inch lift on my 03, carbed model. It threw my gas gauge off (which wasn't very accurate anyway) and I now have less fuel in the tank when I switch to reserve. I have always just kept an eye on the mileage anyway. I have heard on the newer models it effects the gauge and the miles to empty reading. Other than that I have not heard of any other problems. Just make sure your bars or triple tree won't hit the tank after the lift...

Bud,

Great looking mod. That sounds terrible about the gas gauge and mileage resetting. Guess I will need to just drop the coin and buy a second bike if I have to raise the tank. Or I could sell my watch and get a Honda fury.

Nice lookin W/G you have there . Talk about sittin "in" the bike rather than on top of the bike . The Softail ain't got nothing on this W/G !
