My 77 shovelhead started missing and popping and backfiring.
I put in a new Rivera advance unit, (old unit was almost wore out),
Added new points. Set .020. Static timed it with the dot. It ran alittle better during a test ride. I started it again and it started it's fit again. The coil is 4 or 5 years old. Primary tests 5.4. To test the secondary I metered primary to secondary. Open circuit.
Secondary to secondary measured 11,340 ohms.
Did I do the tests right? A youtube video shows a jap coil tested primary to secondary to get the secondary reading. The manual says secondary should test 16k to 20k. So if I did it right, secondary to secondary, I would say the coil is bad? Eh?
