Hi y’all…..I purchased a used two up studded seat with a latch on the left side that I am told controls the adjustment of the driver backrest. The problem is that the latch stays open and cannot stay closed. Anyone familiar with this and what might be wrong and a possible fix? Thanks.

Here are two pictures of the seat and the latch on it‘s left side. From what I gather, that latch allows the driver to adjust the backrest forward or back while driving. This seat is supposed to fit a 2000-2006 softail. I’ll give it a try and if I don’t like it, I’ll sell it but first I have to get that latch fixed. This is how it’s supposed to look only the one pictured doesn’t include the backrest.

So is the adjustment and mount for the back rest integrated to the seat or does it mount to the bike. I wonder if when it’s mounted and under tension if the latch stays closed? Or is it missing a spring maybe? It’s not a bad looking seat.
