OK, my knee-jerk reaction to Beck and Faux News about Benghazi has been pretty much . . . :DeadHorse:

This IRS stuff and now "Justice Dept." [sic] secret access to Associated Press (AP) reporter phone files is over the top. Now I'm starting to think there's probably something to the Benghazi kerfuffle.

PBS had a feature program about govt. surveillance since 9/11, US Govt., CIA, HomeBoy Screwcurity [sic] has set up the most sweeping govt. surveillance network in the history of the cosmos. Govt. has been screening all email for "key words" -- mostly related to financial dealings and fraud.

It's being reported now that Eric Holder had to sign off on the search of AP phone records.

Obie is trying to pass off this IRS mess as "local" -- That's what Nixon was claiming about Watergate.

This is the same govt. that wants to take your guns away.

Sorry Uncle Sam. I'm clinging to my guns and to my US Constitution.

You've slammed Glen beck several times, he reported the IRS story a year ago.......i guess you thought it was just a conspiricy theory. You think if it does'nt come from the left leaning media it ain't so. Well.....your dead wrong.

Government surveillance of its citizens isn’t anything new…………..But it really came into its own with the Patriot Act being put into place after 9/11 and has done nothing but gotten worse ever since. I think the aspect of our government spying on its citizens is here to stay and will only get worse cause once that cat’s outa the bag he aint going back in so you might as well kiss your personal privacy good bye cause its gone and I hope it was enjoyed while you had it cause you no longer do.

The deal about the DOJ pulling phone records for the AP wasn’t illegal……………..Way over the top but they had warrants, granted they were very broad sweeping warrants but warrants none the less. Supposedly the DOJ did what they did because they were searching for reporters that had possibly leaked state secrets. Thanks to the Patriot Act……………All the government had to do was throw out the old terrorism word and they wouldn’t have even needed a warrant. With the Patriot Act……………….Our government can do anything it wants to and will do so……………..Of that you can rest assured.

I too am starting to really wonder about Benghazi as just too many things are not adding up……………..2+2 does not equal 5 no matter how you do the math.
This inst the first time the IRS has been used as a weapon…………….Kennedy & Nixon (two that come to mind) both did it. Kennedy used the IRS against the Mafia which is why the Mafia was first suspected in his death.

You keep tagging me as some sort of bleeding-heart, progressive, libtard. But then you can't seem to figure out grammar or spelling either.

The government surveillance of your phone calls and such is not a new thing. NSA has had that capability for years and has been doing so (albeit within certain limits apparently until recently). I am more concerned about this idea of "broad sweeping" warrants. Can't pull the court reference off the top of my head, but I seem to recall once reading a court decision that says such warrants are NOT CONSTITUTIIONAL. I realize this bozo in the big house doesn't recognize the Constitution when it is inconvenient for him, but nonetheless, that 4th amendment prevails. Even the NSA had limitations on what data it could mine from INTERNATIONAL phone calls.
We now have homeland security. I'm more afraid that this government would rather use it as it's own KGB or Gestapo.

Right now the government is recording and saving all cell calls, texting, and email. They are not reading of listening to it all, but if they ever need to go back they have the records to search.

You can hardly be anonymous in this high tech society anymore and of course anything you've posted & texted or forum your a member on, sites you visit can be turned around to use against you at any time , we know it would never be used to help you.

it seems to me that we have given away much of our privacy, or at least made it very easy for the government or anyone else to monitor communications. with the way we communicate electronically there are no secrets.

Let me shoot this over your head --

I have a 7th grade education, i do my best. What has my spelling or grammer got to do with you being a bleeding heart lib/socialist?
Let me explain the nexus, just because I'm in a vindictive mood:

What you know about who I am derives from what you've read in my posts. Current literary-critical theory posits that "the text is indeterminate." -- in essence, the text holds no fixed a priori meaning; we bring meaning to the text through our reading of it.

Our reading of the text is subjective, not objective. We bring our presumptions to our reading and our presumptions color our understanding -- and in this case "taint" would be a more accurate term.

Now, comprehension of the text relies upon but is by no means entirely delimited by the resources in the reader to accurately parse grammar, punctuation, lexical content, syntax, cultural allusion, discursive convention and the like.

Ipso facto -- the syllogistical inference in all this is that the reader cannot reliably found an accurate presumptive outcome if he/she cannot accurately parse the text.

I'm going to spell it out one more time --

I don't buy into the media lock-step, knee-jerk political bias pandered by Faux News, MSNBC, Glenn Beck, Current TV, Piers Morgan nor any other of the media "infotainers" incessantly hawking their political pronouncements in the commercial broadcast media.

Hello fascism, Marxism and 1950's Russia and lets not forget Orwell's 1984 and big brother.

Conservatives have been talking about this since 2008.

Scary that I understood what he wrote. I guess all of that stuff they pounded into my skull in college stuck. I know sometimes I find myself writing in "foreign English", particularly when I have been working on a Consultation Report then coming online here. But hopefully, Y'all don't think I'm inebriated with the exuberance of my own verbosity!
