So first the admission; I noticed the active exhaust valve was permanently shut. First curse the dealership who "programmed" it to be permanently open at the first service without my permission. Then spend two evenings researching cures for malfunctioning AEVs on the interweb - not too successful as they only seem to exist outside the USA and most forums are US-centric. Then realise that the last time I polished the steed I had pushed the outer of the cable out of it's abutment. Fix time? 2 secs. AEV now working (well opening anyway:rolleyes)
So now the questions(s). Whilst fiddling about I noticed for the first time that the baffle outlet diameter of the upper silencer (muffler) is bigger than the lower one. The upper exhaust is the one with the AEV inserted. Why is that? The exhausts appear to be the same length and of course there is a balance pipe. Do aftermarket slip-ons have the same differentiation? If not, could this be why some of them pop and bang on the overun?
