Having what is getting to be a maddening no spark issue. 1984 FXRDG, 20K miles, very nice shape. It ran when I brought is home, all I did was take off front fender and tank to buff. Touched NOTHING else. So I put the tin back on...no spark. So I got a replacement module (used) a new sensor plate, new ignition switch, and a new coil. Put it all on today, no spark. Battery is completely charged when I crank it. I did notice that with the kill/stop switch, the motor will turn over in either position, which I do not think is correct; I disassembled switch today, short white wire is hooked up, I squirted it with contact cleaner, no change, so I have a new one coming.
One thing I did try was to take two white wires off of coil, put voltmeter on them, ignition on, kill switch in the 'run' position, I have 12V at white/red wire, but not white/green wire. Turn (kill) switch off, no voltage at either one, but motor will still turn over, weird.
So tomorrow Ill get the meter out and test the coil/module/sensor plate again. Yikes. If anyone can think of anything I might be missing, I would surely welcome the input. We have been having unusually cool weather for this time of year in the Tucson area, and this is making me crazy! I want to ride!:smile
