On a sister forum, I and another member have come to be the lone posters of political topics, this story that SHAZBAT posted strikes a nerve that I think most of you would find interesting, read other postings Examples of Sequester Hypocrisy

Veterans to bear brunt of Sequester
Obama’s Sequestration Targets Caregivers of Wounded Military
June 1, 2013 by Dave Jolly

President Barack Obama first created the Sequestration in an attempt to blackmail Republicans to compromise on his budget cut plans. Republicans refused to compromise, Obama then turned the blame of Sequestration on to the GOP instead of its creator – him. When it came time for Sequestration to take effect this year, Obama again pointed the finger of blame at Republicans, telling the nation that this would cause deep financial crisis.

What you may not know is that the final act to launch the Sequestration rested on Obama’s desk in the Oval Office. He had the option not to sign it and prevent it from taking effect, but he was determined to make the GOP look as bad as possible so he readily signed it into action.

Once the Sequestration went into effect in March, it’s been obvious that the Obama administration has done everything possible to force it to hurt people. Instead of cutting mundane programs and things like foreign aid to countries that hate us and want to destroy us, they cut White House tours, a number of benefits for our active military, and are forcing furloughs of key federal employees like Border Patrol and Customs Agents.

We’ve seen how concerned Obama has been about making sacrificing budget cuts of his own by his young teenage daughters spending spring break in Mexico and the ski slopes of Colorado. Obama has continued to host a number of gala events at the White House, many of which were un-necessary.

In his latest move to make the Sequestration as painful as possible, a number of civilian caregivers at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland are being forced to take 11 unpaid furlough days off. Beginning in July, these people who are tending to our wounded military heroes will be forced to take one unpaid day off every week for 11 weeks. That’s a mandated 20% cut in pay for over 2 ½ months.

In today’s struggling economy, how many of you could afford to take a 20% cut in pay for almost 3 months?

But that’s not the worst of it. Our wounded military men and women that sacrificed limbs and other bodily injuries serving our country will also be subject to 20% less care and therapy than they are entitled too. Obama isn’t just hurting the civilian workers, he’s hurting our wounded warriors as well. His actions speak volumes at how little he cares for our military men and women. President Obama has the compassion of a bucket of mud.

How much more despising and hurting will our military men and women take before they’ve had enough? He’s cut their training budgets, cut their educational benefits, cut retirement benefits and cut their freedom of religion, if they are Christian that is. Now he’s taking some of the needed care away from their wounded. When will enough be enough?

And there could be less joining to a point that a draft may have to come into play with the next administration. Obama could not care less. He's pure scum.

What pisses me off is that some people have so much, and think that everyone should have all that shit, too.....But when you ask them to give the others some their money so everyone has the same, they look at you like you're crazy. Dumbasses (liberals, progressives, demoshats, 3rd parties, etc...) love to support things until they are forced to be a part of it, too. Then they either want something different, or want fo be excluded as a "special case"...

"Socialism works perfectly, till you run out of other people's money..."

Can't remember who said that.

Both Democrats and Republicans supported the legislation that included spending cuts.
You are correct to a degree.... Now lets talk about responsible spending cut's????
Yours are to cut personal that actually perform a valid function, mine is to eliminate waste in government...
If we can't reduce spending when we are throwing lavish balls for our friends, flying all over the place when we can consolidate trips, then we will continue to disagree... Why do you want to attack the middle class and award the ones that do not pay into the system???Just because we agree to spending cuts does not mean we agree where the cuts should come from.

Your talking about a vote on a cut where both sides had to compromise, I'm talking basic beliefs of the party...
Never said we don't have arz wipes on both sides of the line, I would rather choose the side that isn't trying to force me into getting everything I "Need" from big brother.

Now to try and back on track, what are your thoughts on what they are doing to our military folks?

I'm with you on the big brother thing, but my thoughts are Romney and the likes of him made a living sending good jobs to China so some folks can't make a good living for themselves. I do not think the Repubs take the high moral ground. In the long term, who is going to buy all this shiite coming from China if no one has a decent paying job? The welfare queen actually does more good for the country than the businessman who outsources jobs, because one is spending 100% of their money in the US economy and the other is taking from the economy and sitting on all the money like a hoarder. It's kind of like the chicken before the egg argument. But oh well, who knows. 500 posts!

Nobody thought the Sequester would ever actually take place. It was piece of legislation that went through to stop an action that would have caused a catastrophic melt down of not only the US economy but likely the world economy. ie. Debt Default.

What is surprising them now is how little negative impact it has had on the economy now that it has gone into action.

You're right, but I think it premature to make the impact call just yet, the full effects of cuts really have not impacted any one yet.

Next Monday is payday for IRS folks, my paycheck will 10% short, as will four to six more by the end of September 2013.

The FY2014 budget is moving along at a snails pace, if they neglect to come of with a budget that affects additional cuts, then another 10% reduction (Automatic Cuts) will be invoked, this process continues for the subsequent 8 years.

Congress and POTUS are weak kneed wimps, unable to make distinct prudent legislation to rationally cut where cutting is needed:bigbarf
