I have a 2013 Break Out and the only thing I hated about it is the factory headlight. The dealer sold me a Xenon bulb replacement. I spoke very highly of the buld and the light produced was significantly better than the stock buld and was only about $18.00.

A year later, the bulb blows. (It even says on the package that the bulbs burn hotter and do not last as long) Because of the warning I carried a spare and the tools to replace it on the fly. Well one dark night I pulled over at a gas station to replace the bulb, the low beam still worked. However, the heat of the bulb melted the connector. It wasn't completely ruined but very close to unusable. I had to pull the old bulb out in pieces due to the warped connector. I was able to get the replacement Xenon in place and went home.

I read here, in one of the many helpful posts, that there is a heat block that can be used between the Xenon and stock connector. If you go with this type of bulb, really consider that. I went to the dealer yesterday because I finally caved in to get the Daymaker. I told them that the bulb they suggested melted the connector. They gave me a new one but were unaware of the issue, or the heat block.

Loving the Daymaker so far but I do need to adjust my head light to point upward a little more to make the best use of it.

It's not just the hotter bulbs that can cause this problem. I have found several bikes with stock headlamps that have melted the connector, and HD seems to know about it, or at least some of the wrenches do.
