i don't know for sure chief, i got stopped on mine today before i got the cam chest opened up. i will let you know what they look like tomorrow. i've heard they have gone out in as little as 25,000 mi and that some go 100,000.
It was the older spring loaded tensioners that wore out with low miles, the newer hydraulic tensioners go between 50k and 100k miles.

I cleaned her, again. This weather is stupid and I want to punch Mother Nature in her liver. I think the frustration of this lingering cold weather is the equivalent of having 5 free hours with a high class hooker and not being able to get it up. She didn't really need a bath, I just wanted to spend some time with her.
The bike or the hooker? :confused

The bike or the hooker?

Yeah, what he said... :eek

Looked at the pretty green light on the tender as I hopped in my truck to go to work.

Turned the key and bzzzt click, then nothing.

Popped the hood, moved the tender from the bike to the truck and left it charge for about 9 hours and called for a lyft ride into work.

Took off an hour early from work so I could get my battery taken care of and caught another lyft ride home.

Tried to start the truck and it turned over about half a turn then bzzzt, click.

Well shit. Called up a tow truck and asked them how much for a jump start, and they said $80.

EFF that. I'd rather carry a battery home for $80!

I thought, it isn't too dead, just needs a little help, so I hooked up the jumper cables to the bike and jumped my truck.

Drove the truck to the car dealer a couple blocks away and kept the truck running while I bought a new battery.

Went back home, swapped out the truck battery.

Held my breath as I tried to start the truck with the new battery, spun right up and I took my old battery back to the dealer so they wouldn't be charging me a core charge.

Damm thing was $180 the way it was for the one with a 4 yr warranty! :eek

Damm jumpstart would have nearly been half the cost of the premium battery! :nah

When I was at the dealership I noticed my passenger headlight was out. They just did the inspection on my truck on Monday, so I set up another appointment for them to take another look at it this coming Monday cause I thought it strange that both the high and low beam quit at the same time.

Finally made it home for good, and did some poking around the headlight to see if it was electrical, or just a bulb.

Soon as I removed the bulb from the housing, it started to work! :loco

Time to quit before something else breaks! So I replaced the seat on my bike, put the tender on my pickup battery for over night, and called it a day! :eek

The old battery was the one they installed at the factory 9 years ago, so I guess I did pretty good on it.

Replaced the throttle grip. Wore completely through the rubber cover to the core.

Got tired of getting glue on my hands after a ride.

Where'd you find a buffalo burger?

Last time I had a buffalo burger is when I was working outside of Oakland.

They had a Fuddrucker's that had Buffalo, Elk, Ostrich, I cant remember what all they had.

Took it in to the dealer to get it serviced, been awhile since I had a dealer take a look at it mainly to have a second set of eyes give it a look over. Mechanically fine, but found out the ME-888s I put on last time have some cupping going on. Don't even have 10k miles on them. :(

So now I need to start looking for some new tires.

Damn, 10k don't sound like a lot....? Is it something to do with the brand....? My Rocker did not get good mileage but the tire was huge, the King did better and I have high hopes for the Sporty.
Colt.45
I think its to do with the specific tire. Used the Metzler ME 880 previously, no cupping on that tire....

The 888s are multi compound. I like the idea of a multi compound, currently doing research on what I will try next.

Dunlop Elite 4s and American Elites are multi compound.... still doing my research, but not going to give the 888s another try. :nah

Been reading that several people put a 90/90-21 on the 21" wheels vs the stock size of MH90-21 (80/90-21), and it fits no problem.

Thinking about trying this.

It isn't so much that you can see it by casual observation, but if you run your hand along the tread, you can definitely feel bulges and depressions.

Both front and rear are like this, with the front being definitely more severe.

You can also switch from the spring loaded tensioners to hydraulic as I did, with a new cam plate.

I am curious, genuinely don't know. I have a 21" front tire. Other than cupping, why use a 90/90 instead of an 80/90? I mean, are there other benefits to it being a little wider?
From what I've been hearing, the 90/90 rides slightly better. :dunno

I read the rest of your posts on this. This may have or may not apply to our bikes because tire wear is subject to different dynamics on motorcycles, but generally, when we encountered cupping wear on car tires in our shop, we suspected that the shocks were not controlling the small pavement irregularities well. In effect, allowing the tire to “bounce” on the surface just slightly. The shocks would feel good on the normal bounce test, but when we removed them, we would sometimes find that there was a section of them that corresponded to their position at normal ride height that felt a little loose or weak in dampening resistance. If it was front tires only, that was an indicator to check wheel alignment. The front tires on four-wheelers actually do “lean” slightly in turns (camber), just not as radically as bikes do. I’m not saying your shocks are bad, just tossing this out as a FWIW.
If it werent for several people having problems with the 888s specifically, I would give that more investigation.

I have Progressive Monotubes in the front now, and they are much better than the stock suspension which I had problems with bottoming out all the time.

Even with the stock suspension bottoming out all the time, I dont recall any cupping issues, at least not this severe. :dunno
Well, I'm at 8k-ish...

many places in oklahoma serve buffalo meat. there are a lot of herds in oklahoma that are big enough to harvest meat from. the meat is the best i've ever eaten. they raise themselves on the prarie, no grain suplements necessary or antibiotics. if the govt hadn't slaughtered almost all of them trying to starve out indian tribes there would be no need for the cattle industry. they taste almost the same as beef but there is more marble through more cuts than beef which makes more tender cuts that if served from roasts people would not know they weren't eating beef. anyway kainem just come to my house some weekend and we will ride down for a burger the next day! you are always welcome to stay over here.:grin
Well, If I ride that far, it might have to be a Buffalo steak! :D

Rode it to the dentist this morning, then to lunch, then to work. Later, I'll ride it to the taco joint for Taco Tuesday for dinner, then on to home. :D

Not much pain anymore, but it hasn't even been a week since the surgery, still supposed to not lift anything heavier than 15 lbs for a month. Means I'd have to find a way in May to get 2,500 miles in two or three weeks.
Been there just a few years ago.
