Brake cleaner , starting fluid , kerosene , gasoline , rubbing alcohol....... be careful , don't burn your garage down , throw some cardboard under the bike to soak up what runs off, then take the soaked cardboard outside and burn it.
S100 I buy it by the gallon jug and use a smaller s100 squirt bottle to apply. I got some funky lithium grease lube a builder put on my Chopper's chain back in 2005, caught in the rain at Daytona and the mix turned to this dull white goo... tried all my standard cleaners as this was on a polished aluminum swingarm.
Near panic, went to the campgrounds' office, got a phone book out and dialed the little shop in that town north of Daytona and explained what happened. GUY goes, "Your done panicking you need this!" Hands me a bottle and I headed to the nearest quarter car wash... BINGO.
DO NOT get S100 on Dyed Real Leather Saddle Bags it will take dye off eventually (Purple Bike). If used on the bags to get road grime off. I remove the bags lots of unbolting and then squirt the dickens out of the stuff behind them.
I was sold. I hope they never stop selling it, but I have a half big jug left.
Westleys changed their formula a number of years ago. Had been using that stuff for many years--don't have whitewalls but it got my black tires really clean and looking new. But the new formula left a brown residue all over my black tires. Took almost forever using soaps, SOS pads, etc. trying to clean the brown scum off.
I don't use anything that I wouldn't use on my face. I tried S100, which worked well, but if you let it dry you've got problems and I don't like that risk. I do use Chemical Guys waterless wash.
I use S100 on my bike, also on my lawnmower, and on my Tahoe wheels & tires and the instructions warn you over and over to rinse immediately and not let it dry.
1 part Simple Green diluted with 10 parts water. If it is thick, dirty, sludgy oil, spray it with WD-40 or silicone spray ($3 a can from Home Depot or Lowe’s) until there is only a “clean” layer of wd-40, then spray and wipe with the diluted simple green solution. Cheap, non-toxic, non-corrosive.
