I'm piecing this bike together from scratch, I have very little history on the frame. My 94 Fatboy doesn't have the loop, I've got a friend checking his 87 to see if he has it. The loop has a couple notches top and bottom on the back side, looks like whatever goes there isn't supposed to turn. Yes Gator, LOL I have the engine.

That is the mount boss for the oil filter adapter.

It's the suicide horn rod mounting hole.

Here ya go, this pic aint from the web, it`s from my garage...

It is the best mount scenario for an oil filter, plenty of room.

It works and made changing the filter easy, so the MoCo fixed it in `92.....

That is the Softail oil filter adapter setup that was used through the `91 model year. They should have never changed it...

Oops, my bad ...so we've been talking about Softails have we ? !!!
The touring models had the filter mounted under the trans housing just ahead of the rear tire.
