Rollers get mixed reviews on a LOT of forums.
In the elementary- it would seem they should be a monumental grate idea.
Some advocate, the others say they are too noisy.
I have a 530 Dave Mackie cam .
Its been in there about a year with new stock lifters.
What do you guys do?

A quality set of roller rockers sure will not hurt anything.
Less wear at contact points = increased life expectancy. Reduced, though minimally, parasitic drag, loss of HP.
Win/win IMO.
Do not understand the too noisy comment.
Not a cheap upgrade though.

Have been thinking about a set for T~S.
Then again I get accused of tending to over build most things I do.

With a .530" lift cam, keep your dollars in your wallet.
We use them here when we are working with cams at/near .600" lift.
And yes, sometimes those do have a tick more noise than a stock rocker arm assembly.:)

It`s my money. I willl spend it if I wanna. :laugh
That's why I had to get rid of my HD credit card, ran out of things I wanted to spend my points on.

Be awhile before I run out of things to use my points on at Cabelas. :laugh
(Plus Cabelas points done expire)

I think what is missed is the rocker ratio .
Yes the DM cam is described as a .530 lift, but thats not really true. (with any cam )
I think the evo ratio is 1.624 so that equals .860 total lift ? (I think)
Now that generates more stem side loading etc.
So , either style rocker is doing a lot more them most people think.
Plus if one studies all the hype. a roller "lift" the geometry is perhaps more consistent then just a cup and ball.
Blah blah blah-
it all gets so confusing.
Like i said, real world experience seems to be rare.
i have no reprehension in just going out and buying a set of R.rockers, i just do not want to buy a bunch of problems.
So- if someone wants to share experience and perhaps which brand they like, it would be appreciated .

If my wallet was fat I would put them on my 96 for the increased efficiency, though modest. IMHO

As well as what I would feel would be a much better quality part.
As opposed to the more massed produced I believe stamped rocker used by the MoCo.

Next to J&P, and a couple other HD parts sellers.
Fin Feather Fur Outfitters along with Cabelas are very dangerous places for me to even window shop at.

Not a real common mod. For reasons stated already. More of a full on race bike sort of thing.

Am sure someone around here does. Either has not read the thread, has just not responded, is ignoring _______ . < Fill in the blank.

I never used them on a Harley, but have used them on VW racing engines in the past. They were worth the gold on very high lift, high rpm engines. We found in all other situations standard rockers, set up correctly did the job fine. Most rocker problems are caused by the incorrect geometry that isn't corrected. High lift cams change the rocker to valve geometry and is sometimes very hard to correct. Roller rockers cure that problem.

Like I said in the beginning, most people do not acct. for rocker ratio.
The EVO is a bit more then the shovel .
That all said yes I know they reduce friction and blah blah blah, but my retraint or reason i have not blown the money on a set is, reading the forums ."Some people" say they are way too noisy . (This makes zero since to me).
But there are a whole lot of people out there in internet land that just repeat what they have read.
So i have been looking for REAL experience with what ever 'brand" you have opening and closing your doors.

Roller rockers can be nosier as there are more moving parts in the assembly.
We handle/work with this type of equipment on almost a daily basis here.
