Windshield Question

Put the windshield on my 2006 Fat Boy for the first time today (just bought the bike a little over a month ago, included the windshield). Bottom bracket fit right into the grommets as did the top. But when the brackets fit into the grommets, the little clips will not go over the metal piece on the end of the grommet. If I set the windshield in the grommets to allow the clip to fit properly, the brackets don't fit into the grommets the way they should.

So I went for the proper fit with the grommets thinking even with the clip not quite right the windshield isn't going anywhere.

Anyone have similar experience?

Make sure that the mount at the bottom is fully seated in the groove.
It is. I made sure that it was all the way down. That's one reason I think the clip is not going to matter much.
Doesn't appear to be but I'll take a closer look.
Post a pic.

If it is anything like the road king shield, those clips are not meant to go over anything. They are simply there to help pull the bracket over the grommets.
Thanks, that looks like what I expected. I'll look it over again when I get home from work today.

OK, that would make sense then.
Took a good look at mine and it looks like the pic that oldredog77 showed. The loop on mine is just past the grommet. I guess I just assumed that the loop was to go around the grommet. Never occurred to me that could be intended to help pull the windshield into place since it doesn't seem very useful for that.

In any case, I don't feel like my windshield will depart the bike on the way down the highway any longer.

Thanks for the help.
Glad I could help.
