Hello,

I've just installed a cruise control kit on my '07 Street Glide. The vendor I bought it from is guilty of false advertising. Their ad says "Exactly the same as the original (discontinued) kit" but the wiring harness is not included like it was in "the original (discontinued) kit". Even the photo on their web page shows a complete right side wiring harness, both halves, with all switches installed, ready to plug and play, just like Harley supplied before the kits became obsolete.

What actually came with this kit is an empty right side lower hand control housing and a cruise control switch that I had to install in the housing along with the existing switches from the old housing, run the wires and connect to the Molex connector.

That's fine, I did all that already, but the switch has 3 wires and the Molex connector only had 2 vacant cavities which leaves me with an orange wire with a white stripe and no instructions on where this wire connects. I contacted the guy I bought the kit from and he is the wise sort so that ended in us cussing each other out. I doubt he is going to give me any service after the sale so I'm asking if anyone here knows where the orange wire from the cruise control thumb switch connects on a 2007 Street Glide?

According to my 2007 FLH series HD service manual, the O/w wire in the right switch housing is a ground wire that ends at one end to the triple tree. The schematic also traces the O/w from left switch housing, tach and speedo to the main wiring connector.

Thanks Breeze. I saw pretty much the same thing on the wiring diagrams I was able to find on the internet. I'm still wondering how it was wired in the factory kit? I'm a little hesitant to ground the wire since I paid $830 for the kit.

When I turn on the CC the little speedo icon lights up orange. I took the bike for a ride yesterday and was not able to engage the CC so I'm not sure what the problem is if it isn't the orange wire. Maybe it needs some dealer programming to make it work? I didn't have the front cowling or headlight installed.

Where do you live in Middle Georgia? I'm in Hawkinsville.

Thanks Breeze. I printed the diagnostic instructions you sent me and went through the steps, but the speedo icon never lit up. Next I rolled the dice and connected the O/W wire from the set/res switch to the other O/W wire in the terminal block and tried the diagnostics again. This time I got 3 slow flashes followed by 3 quick flashes. I got the soldering iron out and made the connection permanent.

I then warmed up the engine and went through the initialization procedure. I had the green speedo icon, heard the engine rev a little then the icon turned orange. Everything worked as it should so I put the cowling, etc. back together and headed down Upper River Road, the road the women's prison is on. I know it has some hills which is a good test of the cruise. It worked perfectly, I now have cruise control. Thanks again for all your help. I'm on R&R from my current assignment on Alaska's North Slope and really wanted to get this finished before I returned to the job.

Nobody knows it all. But everybody knows something. When we add it all up and share it, it amounts to a helluva lot.

If you click on the PDF icons in reply #5 above, the instructions will open. I've changed computers and such in the last 7 yrs. but may still be able to find my data. Also, it seems like I have forgotten more in the last 5 yrs. than I learned in the last 40. Edit: I remembered that the 2007 cruise control is a Unicorn, different than 2006 and 2008 because it was the 1st year of 96" & 6 speed.
