Ok, I have searched and I am overwhelmed. I have never owned an HD before but have completed numerous oil changes on bikes. Can someone tell me the capacity/weight of oil to use for oil change, primary and transmission. If you want to provide suggestions of brands, I'll gladly listen. I do not want to buy HD oil though. Thanks in advance. I guess it would help to get advice on capacities if I listed my bike, 2007 Road King.

I choose and stick with an oil that I will be able to buy anywhere.
I like 20/50 for the engine. 75/90 to 75/140 for the trans. and just about anything in the 30w or multiviscocity without friction modifiers for the primary.
Capacities from my '07 service manual
Engine/with filter 4 qts. ( I like 3.5)
Trans. 32 oz.
Primary 38 wet (45 if you have removed the primary cover).

The engine oil drain is the 3/4" hex plug in the center of the pan.
The trans. oil drain is next to the right frame rail.
The primary drain plug is under the derby cover.

Buy a HD service manual. It is my favorite book.

Mobil 1 20w50 in engine
Mobil 1 75/140 in the tranny
Lucas oil Primary Fluid in the primary

Had some work done and dealer put HD fluid in the primary, much harder to find neutral now. Changing fluids soon and can't wait to get back to the lucas primary fluid.

I run straight SeaFoam in all four holes. Despite its built in stabilizer, I add some Sta-bil to the SeaFoam in the winter.

Thanks for the advice, did the change today. Used Mobil 1 20W-50 V-twin in all three holes. Pretty easy not too messy except for the oil filter there has to be a trick to getting that out without it running down the bike. Either way the time learning about the bike and getting my hands dirty was well worth the money saved in shop cost. I took my time and let all the fluids drain basically until they stopped even slowly dripping took me a little time but I enjoyed the process.
