I have a 2007 FXST which is a 96 ci, it has the stock primary chain adjuster. I would like to replace it with a manual style similar to what is on the EVO. So what are your experiences with aftermarket primary chain adjusters and what would you recommend ?

Or the auto chain adjuster can be replaced by a different brand auto chain adjuster like the Hayden unit. This auto adjuster keeps the chain tensioned without over tightening like the factory units do. Find neutral easier and quieter shifting.
The Hayden was one I was considering, but heard of problems with them coming apart.

I've been installing the Hayden tensioners since 2009 and haven't heard a complaint yet. I'd like for you to point me to some of the problems you've heard about so I can investigate if there's actually a problem with Hayden. I wouldn't want to install a product prone to failure ya know.
As far as the Hayden tensioner "coming apart", I can't understand how that could happen if installed correctly in the installation procedure in the first place ! Seriously I haven't heard of the Hayden "coming apart" thing till you mentioned it in this thread !
Simple Google search.

I will be the other guy, Hayden been a POS for me to, the stupid little shoe was falling into little pieces (not even where the chain ride) that contaminated the oil, the clutch disc i had to removed and cleaned to remove those little pieces of the shoe, also blocked the little cup hole into the chain case to lubricate the bearing (that i replace on spec for piece of mind) . All this in about 4k miles. Yes the POS was setup properly (i can read instructions and rig flight control on helicopter). If you do a little google search you will find many that the shoe broke in 2. Thanks but no thank!
I didn’t order the Hayden. I ordered the Southern Oregon Hot Bikes HB 125–07.
