Ahhh. OK, will assume you have a map image you want to post, that it is on your hard drive somewhere.

Make your post and as you are doing so you will see an button option at the bottom of the screen "Manage Attachments". Clicking this will pop up a screen where you can browse your hard drive and select the map file you want to attach. When you then submit your reply your map image will be available for viewing.

Let me know if I can clarify anything, also, if you need help creating a map.

Steve

LD, Found the area on my maps. Looks like that area is "Lake Central"!
yeah I work for the City of Osage Beach and live just outside of it, and it's known as the heart of the lake of the ozarks. Pretty much everything around here has something to do with the lake.

Lil, That looks like the Finger Lakes area. I've only seen it from the air! Have friends in Buffalo I want to see someday and heading east through Seneca Lake area is in the plans.
That's where it is Steve. You must let me know when you come by! I'll put up the welcome sign for sure!

EZE....you'll have to come up again and ride up through Rt 21, west of the route I picked. It is much more hilly, curvy and gives you a feel for the Bristol Mountain area (Steppenwolf's from next door...that's his ski mountain.), and takes you up through my town at the north end.

EZE!!!!!!!!:dance :dance :dance
I have lived up here in Western NY for more than 15 years now and am ok with it, until of course you share such a wonderful film with us! Thank you so much! How I long to hear the voices of my fellow Long Islanders....it is one of the best songs on the planet!

RS... Between the two which do you enjoy more?

Cherohala by far....US 129 is a must ride, but requires a lot focus. I like to sight see a little bit which I can't do on the dragon. The Cherohala (I believe you've ridden it) has long sweepers and a little bar on the Tn river at the end with GREAT bbq and cold beer

One of the rides we like to do incorporates both roads as a loop. I just couldn't get the google map to do the whole route

EZE... Now that was a nice video! Makes me want to explore LI.

Lil... Where in western NY are you? I have friends in Springville just south of Buffalo (Hwy 39 I believe) offering a place to stay and explore from. Don't think this is too far from Seneca.
On the first map Springville is at the green pin. The Chosen Spot is at the red.
If you were to go exploring from Springville toward the East, then a stop at Letchworth State Park is a must. You'll see that route on the second map.
Know that in both maps some lakes are not visible. Canandaigua Lake for instance.:)

Lil and Steve, I'm glad you enjoyed it. How about another?
...
Here is a fun ride. It involves very short ferry rides to cross Shelter Island...
I've had lunch at Lunch!
Now I want clams!!!!!

Someday I will pass through the area Lil. Thanks for the tips.

"The Chosen Spot"... I have no comeback for that at the moment. :)
We'd love the opportunity to welcome you to town!

From the Town website

"It is no wonder that you remain a vivid, vital part of my spirit. You have touched the souls of the Senecas who called your water 'The Chosen Spot' - Canandaigua'. Hundreds of moons later, you let me know your history, feel your sparkling water, see your sunrise and hear your joy of life and laughter. Onanda, every moccasin, every sneaker, every bare foot that has paced your shore, traveled your glen or hiked your hill has been touched by your gifts.

You have been through many changes since the Senecas grew from you. White men from New England and Virginia found your beauty, Mr. Phelps and Mr. Gorham sensed your kindness and kept your name. They brought rugged individuals to 'The Chosen Spot' who civilized the land without taking too much in return. All those who have come somehow knew that this lake with rolling hills and shale cliffs should remain as close to nature as possible."

Steve,
I was thinking that this thread is a great idea. I was also thinking it might be better to start a thread for each state or region for easier future look up. You dont have to be from the state, if you know of a good ride post it up in the appropriate thread. Opinions?
