Flhx oil temp gauge

Anyone had any experience installing an oil temperture gauge into the fairing in the 2007 street glide flhx? Harley sells one for $132.00 plus $50.00 for a hardware kit (only needed on the 2007) that they can't tell me why it is needed. Wally world sell one that I've heard works well with the 2006 flhx, any one know if their is a difference installing in the 2007?

I have the Wally world one on my 99' Ultra. Did the install myself,it was simple. I really like it and it matches well with the HD guages. Don't forget to remove the lightbulb from the HD Airtemperature guage and install it in the Wally World guage so they all have the same amount of brightness.

I checked with dealer and was told the adpter goes between the oil filter and the housing. The 06 and earlier had exposed oil lines and attached there.
I going for the compass there and the dipstick oil temp/oil quantiy one.

I just put one on my 07 Ultra. Make sure you lubricate the threaded fitting and tighten the heck out of it, forget the 25 foot pounds they advise in the instructions.
