just introducing myself, I am pretty new to motorcycling, only been riding about 3/4 of a year, but i used to dirt bike quite a bit as a kid and it all came back to me very quickly. i currently ride and have been riding a 83 honda magna to famiarize myself with riding in this wonderfully cold and wet state and also all the various laws in the states, but am getting a 99 FXD tomorrow actually (hopefully, depends on how good a deal i can work with the dealership for a used dyna), bikes isn't exactly what i want, but im a student and am on a strict budget for a bike, and this FXD is in that budget.

none the less, i figure everything is customizable and one of the things i am really looking forward to is ripping the bike apart and changing things to be exactly the way i want them to be.

myself and a couple friends of mine have a big road trip planned for this summer (first time all three of us have been stateside together - ex military and current military) where the plan is to hit all four corners of the contiguous USA, along with sturgis... vegas... New Orleans... all the hot spots, its going to be a blast, camping, biking, gambling, biking, camping, been planning it for a couple years.

anyways, hello, and if your in the seattle area and looking to take a ride hit me up, if its sunny out im always down to take off and go somewhere on my bike

:welcome hello I would just get a dependable stock bike for a rider.
Not worry about customizin too much. Thatll friggen cost a fortune even if you get a deal on the scoot. Get you to school and work stuff. Later when you get finacnially right with that great edumacation you can buy somethin to play with.

Welcome to the forum from Virginia. Congratulations on the new bike, you will enjoy it. Your road trip sounds ambitious and a whole lot of fun!!!! And you are doing it at exactly the right time. You're young and carefree; you can roll with whatever comes up during the trip; no commitments like job/wife or girlfriend (or kids) to keep you tied to your hometown. You definitely need to make that trip happen. You will remember it fondly for the rest of your life. If you need any help in the planning or packing or routes to travel, post it up on the forum. There is a lot of good information and people here. :nod

Welcome from just north of you in Skagit county. This has been a mild winter for us. Mild temperatures and the rain hasn't been that bad. If you get your scoot today, the weather is favorable. Enjoy and be safe!
