Sorry all I can see is the seam. If it is cracked I would think it'll only get worse. Can you circle it?

 

go to a machine shop. they have a dye that will help clearafy where the crack starts & ends. normally in equipement that vibtates a-lot , machinets stop-drill the crack to prevent it from going any further.

Haha, my eyes! I put some heat resistant silicone over it to block out moisture and dirt just in case. Ill take it to get looked out tomorrow. I really appreciate the help

What crack where?

 

It looks like the starter to pinion housing bolts came loose. The starter assy. will have to be removed to tighten those bolts.
Try posting a clearer picture so we can tell for sure.

 

schmitty is right on target ? loose starter bolts will crack the housing alot of torque to crank over a motor trust me i learned the hard way and an 86 fxr bottom bolt fell out for the starter mount on the tranny and cracked in the same spot as yours

 

Really...... Well I took it in and they acted like it was routine. My bike is still under warranty. Would u take it in and fix it? I was planning on it just later down the road. Still have 1.5 years left on it

That's better. I wouldn't be to concerned about that. The starter motor itself is isolated from that housing, nothing electrical inside there.

 

Very good, I did put some locktite silicon over it to just seal out the moisture and dirt. Do u think it would be ok to ask for it to be replaced toward the end of the warranty? Or would u not bother?

When you get a chance look at some more bikes like yours at the dealers or where ever. If they look similar then there's probably not much the dealer can do for you.

 

All I see are casting marks, sorry
