So my '04 Fatty has been dropped more times than a bad nickle, but I love the old girl and won't get rid of her. She developed an oil leak a few years ago and just considered it her marking her territory. I would always just top her off as needed and never had a problem. Until now. I overfilled the crankcase and took her out without realizing my mistake and she went well for a few miles, then she stalled. I waited a few minutes and she fired back up. I went about half a mile and she stalled again and refused to take part in any more of my bullshit and wouldn't turn over. I got her towed back to my house and I drained out the overfill. She still wont turn over, although she tries. Any ideas?

Dropped her a lot and overfilled the crankcase? First off, it's an oil tank that you put the oil in to. Dropped her a lot too. Drinkin' and riding and wrenching a lot?

Topping off a Softail ain't a good idea unless the engine gets run first. It's possible the crankcase is sumped with the excess oil. Try removing the spark plugs and cranking the engine over, that'll help the oil pump get the oil out of the case.

Glad you got sorted , you will find people that dont judge and are smart and kind enough to give their ideas to solve said problem. These people dont comment for the sake of it, only to help fellow riders. 0ver and out from the still wet and wetter Londonderry Northern Ireland FULL STOP
