joe....i worked for a large corporation for several years. the stupidity of high ranking executives is astounding. decisions that they knew from the start were bad. i heard one make the comment one day "any change is always good". REALLY? sorry pal, the only thing that change ALWAYS is, is a change. its not always good. but thats the mentality of theses grossly overpaid idiots!

I can definitely corroborate this. Worked for a telecom company that took over a territory and it was a total chit show. A year later when things just started looking like normal again, and they bought some more territories. It was a total disaster. I left the company 3 months later for fear they were going to go under or be bought out.

Hard to imagine that the nicest (excluding a CVO) dressed out touring bike on the showroom floor will be cheaper than that fukin' electric toy.

Well, HD management, you've really outdone yourselves this time.
And that's just it. It's a toy. Really. Not good for anything other than commuting on my ~20 mile round trip daily or for a short jaunt around town or to the corner store a mile down the hill.

I was willing to concede to about 100 mile range at $15K because I knew the fit and finish would be there. But $30K is inexcusable. I'd be willing to bet a pizza that it doesn't cost them more than $15K to manufacture. Sure, gotta recoup some R&D costs, but they won't be recouping chit at $30K.

Good thing the Evos and up are easy to work on and pretty bulletproof.....

This announcement should give their shareholders the warm and fuzzies. One could argue levitich is deliberately trying to burn the company down. By throwing their loyal customers to the curb in favor of non existent millennials, combined with the crap they have put out since 2017, not to mention future models and outrageous pricing, they deserve what is coming to them. I've said it before, I'll say it again. The moco will be massively downsized, bankrupt or sold in 10 years or less. Though I'll always own a Harley, they won't get any new business from me. My next new bike will be an Indian. You can count on it.

Laidlaw put out his video yesterday, I watched it. I can't imagine them selling any units outside of collectors. The market for this thing worldwide at that price point has to be about 28 people. It could very well be a fantastic machine but it's just not what people want for $30k plus.

of course matt laidlaw is excited about the livewire. hes gonna be one of the "super dealers", or "celebrity dealers", if you will, that know theyre gonna get them. he said in the video that his dealership is already installing a charging station. the first one he gets will remain his personal bike no matter if he sells any additional ones or not. im sure hes already got it in the works to write it off as advertisement or a promotional tool for his dealership. good for him. I just am not as enthusiastic about it being a positive for the brand. to me, its more like seeing someone driving around in a Rolls Royce with their nose up in the air!

Ain't no way I'm gonna spend $30K on that. Still trying to understand how electric vehicles save money andthe environment! Would someone please enlighten me! Electricity does not magically come out of the wall. It's my understanding that there is some big monstrosity that consumes to produce. Believe that is the cycle of life!

Umm what happens when there is a prolong power outage? Be a planter in living room?
those that will buy them arent gonna be ridin em anyway. theyll have em on display, like the cape buffalo, or, elephant head on their wall.

mentioned on our Motorcycle media the Livewire will be around £23k cant see it taking off except with a few folks like film stars and sport stars just to say they own one.
110 mile range totally insufficient even thou with our voltage at 240v it will allow a fast charge , have Harley mentioned how many times you can recharge it before the bike is no good.
I wouldn't buy one

at that price, it better last forever!
ive heard the batteries in electric vehicles have long lives. but havent heard HOW long. anyone who can afford one maybe has a different notion of what "a long time" is.

And wait until the programmers get their mitts into the ECM and make the bikes quicker !!! 3.5 seconds to 60mph ain't nothing ! It's the rubber on the rear tire that'll hold them back is all !
I'm thinking into the future electric motor powered vehicles are going to hold all the road and speed records eventually !

the potential is definitely there. in my grandsons' lifetimes, possibly even my sons later years, there might be some awesome stuff coming down the electric turnpike. in what years i have left to ride one, probably not. the affordability, availability of adequate charging, and the amount of miles per charging is just not gonna happen. if all that were in place now, would i ride one? sure. its gonna happen. its just not gonna be soon enough. :(

I think the first ones will be bought by racers.

0-60 in 3.5s isnt too bad. Stretch those rubber bands a bit tighter, should go faster.
Yeah, but even then there's better options.

Energica Ego goes 0-60 in 3 seconds, top speed of 150mph, and costs $22,500
Lightning LS-218 goes 218MPH for $10K more (for the hardcore, deep pocketed racers)

In the end, I think once other companies get into the game and bring economies of scale down, range and charging get better, and the costs lower, it'll be something to consider.

I'm just gobsmacked that a company that's said it needs to target younger demographics would bring this bike out at this price. Millennials typically have helicopter parents. They aren't going to let them buy something as scary and dangerous as a motorcycle, especially one that's $30K. :devil

Even if the LiveWire had a 300 mile range, a 30 minute recharge time with a house plug, and cost $10K, it still wouldn't be my only bike. Something about the mechanical connection to a machine (car or bike) with an internal combustion engine and a manual transmission. I have no sense of smell (long story), but I bet gasoline and oil are stimulants like a mofo. :devil

My worry is government mandated autonomous vehicles before we even get to that point, unfortunately. Been reading around the interwebs that we might not even be still owning our own cars within the next 10 years. I can see it. Why get a reoccurring revenue stream from one person in the form of a car payment, when you can get untold payments from all kinds of riders with the same vehicle. :frown
