I buy non ethenol for my chainsaw and wonder how my bike would do on it. I was thinking of filling the tank, put some Stabilze in it and call it good for the winter months. I ride through the winter but not as much.

I honestly haven't noticed much difference in mine. But, riding conditions change so it is hard to compare unless you use both on a long trip or something. Most places between here and Oklahoma that carry non-ethanol that I have found are Citgos, and I refuse to do business with Hugo Chavez. If you are going to put Stabil in your tank, just be aware that there are formulas for with or without ethanol.

thankfully most of the 91+ octane fuel in my area is straight gas and I ride over the winter when I can, so I don't worry about it much.

As far as obtaining non-alcohol gas, look at the gas stations near a marina (or the marina itself) , off road park or at least out of town. It's been my experience in the Midwest that the further away from the city you go the better your chances are, because there are more people filling up boats, ATVs and the such.

QD if you have a I phone go to app store and get "pure gas" app. U can find non ethanol fuel across US with the app

I recently discovered a Pure station near my house that's ethanol free in all three grades of gas . I try to fill up there on my way home after every ride. I think the bike runs a bit better with it, especially with the initial throttle response. As far as letting it sit for long periods over the winter, I've never had a problem with ethanol (or straight gas) sitting in the tank for a month or two with no gas treatment added. When the random nice winter day pops up, I ride, and the old Ironhead always starts up and runs fine.

Almost all I run is non-ethanol. I get about 8.5% better mileage than I do when I have to run ethanol.

If you have an iPhone there is an app called pure gas that will find ethanol free gas near you.

Try finding the place that sells racing fuels, United Oils here in Boise carries at least 3 different levels of octane and no alcohol. I mix the 110 leaded with the 87 unleaded without alcohol, one gallon racing fuel to every four of the cheap stuff. This gives me a 93 octane without alcohol. Works great for the work and shopping etc., on the road, it is Chevron and it's highest octane sold whenever possible.
A tank of the 110 does make a noticeable power level increase, but at $8 a gal, too expensive for me! I think it makes the higher compression in my bike with it's stage IV state.

If you use up the fuel in 2-3 weeks it shouldn't be a problem, longer than that and stabilizer is definitely required. Steve Garns (Brew Dude) did a couple of excellent articles in the The Horse BC on the effects of E-10 after only a couple of months of storage.
