Great looking bikes guys. Just joined the site today as I just sold my 2010 SESG to buy a RKC! I plan on some mini apes and vented lower fairings. Anybody put lower fairings on and have a pic for me? How about 10" or 12" apes for me to see? Picking up a 2008 this week in 2 tone red with 6K miles hopefully. Thanks.

Looking forward to seeing your new bike DABB. Post a pic when you get it. I can't help you with the lower fairings or apes. I don't have either, although I like the look of apes. Welcome to the forum.

Gave the king its yearly tear down and scrub a couple weekends ago and fergot to post up pics:

Thanks chief and classic, i have a love/hate relationship with her but she cleans up well!!! Classic, the tassles(gay)and bars really ruin that bike IMO :bigbarf....looks like a damn street sweeper!! :laugh

Great looking bike 09. I like the bars and love the paint,I'm kinda like you. I'm not a big fan of the tassels though.

Those are some
really nice fairings!!!

:laugh...FOR THE KING there basically 99% detach!!
I'm not onto the whole touring bike thing, so I didn't know. That is a killer idea though. It doesn't even look any different then a stock Harley one, at least from the front.

Yup, mine is a Reckless. Once installed with the quick release wiring harness it is about 15 seconds to take the faring off.

FYI XL1200R, where I live in Southern Ontario we are about even with Chicago or if you like the bottom of Oregon. Our summers are June to September with most days in the 80's, lots in the 90's. I ride full time from March to December and ride at least some every month all year around. If you are in Upstate NY, I am probably south of you.
I'm like 30 miles west of Albany, so I am not real far upstate, but I can see where you could be south, on a globe. Our summers here are May to September I'd say.
Basically the bike goes in the garage from mid November or early December if we are lucky, until march, or middle March.

If our season we shorter I would ride through the winter, but I thought about it and i just don't wanna chance it. MC tires don't grip well on snow, and that period of time gives me an opportunity to get the bike all up to snuff for the next season.

But anyways....m

30 miles west of Albany? Cherry Valley? Springfield? - ish?

You Done Good brucks! I'm really digging all that chrome, horn and ac covers. Pin striping ain't bad either. Good work.

Thanks fellas. There was so much chrome on the engine I wanted to darken the tank a bit. Alii, funny you mention the bars. I was thinking of changing them. They are stock now, but was looking to pull them back about two inches, then saw the Paul Yaffe bars.
Just not sure if they would go with the bike.

The problem with fitting new bars to the RK is the cover over the handlebar bolts. There are a couple of part numbers for covers that allow access to those bolts and allow risers, or whatever, to replace the stock set-up.

55854-07, 55876-10, 55879-10, 55881-10 (from the Harley catalog, of course)

They allow for a variety of handlebar changes. I too am struggling with determining what I want for certain. I have rotated the bars back a bit, but I am not sure that adjustment has accomplished what I wanted. I also think that flatter bars would be more ergonomically sound. But, these covers allow the choices to greatly increase.

Alii,
I don't know how I missed those parts, but those street slammer bars might be what I was looking for. I like the look of the double riser.
Great---- Another project.

White Gold you are right, these babies clean up nice!

Thanks

Brucks dont know exactley what style your looking for on your bars but I just put theese wild one chubbys on w/16"pullback and love'n em didnt need to change clamp but if your goin internal wires will need to extended 4" GL w/ your choice
