I have a 2008 Harley street bob 93 took it to the car wash to clean it up before taking the wife for a ride sence then iv had to eather push or pull start my bike what can it do to Start it ezer
Exactly what happens when you press the start button, do you hear anything?

Never mind, one and done...

Been a mechanic all your life and you're going to throw parts at the bike hoping to get it right !
I would do some basic testing before just throwing parts at it.
There's a connector plugged into the top of the starter, green wire. Unplug the connector and probe it for B+ while pushing the start button. If it shows volts the start button is good.
Then take a jumper wire from the battery positive terminal to that same connector plug on the starter, the starter should spin and engage the engine (crank over).
If both those tests pass the battery and start button are okay.
Check the ignition switch and harness connector under the dash.
Having same problem, but the green wire that triggers the starter from start switch has 12v on all time All wires seem ok but dash and instruments wont come on either. Switch on I here fuel pump run ???

If the green wire on the starter measures 12+ volts always would indicate pinched wires under the right switch housing. The green wire should only have 12+ volts when the start button is pressed. AND a fully charged battery will measure 12.8 volts static, so test the battery.
Also test all the fuses to troubleshoot the dash and instruments.

Been reading through everyone's comments, trying to figure out my problem. I run an 04 Road King. This is what is going on. Ignition switch works, kill switch works, battery power at 12.6v, checked starter relay and its good, checked for power at starter (green wire) when start button is pushed, have constant power. Weird thing is that when I put test a light to green wire I can here the starter relay click on. Checked wiring at right switch housing for pinched wires no damage to wiring. I even went as far as to cut the switch out all together. With no change to getting constant power at green wire. bike was running fine until I replaced the clutch pack, bike is in neutral when I tried to start. I can start the bike by jumping from the battery to the post for the green wire at the starter and bikes runs fine. I am at a lose with this one can anyone help.

I realize there has been a lot of discussions on this or similar topics. I have a 2007 Heritage FLSTC. my key fob does not have a push button and battery for fob is new. When I push the start button nothing happens. Bike Battery is new pushing 12.6 volts, Have been able to bypass solenoid and starter rotates. All fuses are good. I'm thinking the start switch may be bad. Also what does the alarm antenna doe?
Issue most likely is the key fob

Big John, The battery is two months old and is showing 12.6 volts. All connections have been checked and cleaned. All the accessories work fine. Just at a loss. I'm thinking maybe the start switch is the problem. When I get home tonight I will check the wires for the start switch as I changed grips a few months ago.
Hey im Pops I'm having the same problem with an 02 Roadking. My horn quit working correctly as well.

I have a 2014 street glide, I jumped it off using a car while it was running don’t know if that matters, but my friend crossed up the cables and heard a pop noice. Now I get nothing when pressing the start button. All fuses are ok lights and dash are lighting up. Fuel pump activates as well. Tried looking for a starter relay but I think Harley stop making relays in 2014. Need help before I have to take it to Harley!
Hey Mike,

did you ever figure your issue out. I’m in a similar situation, and can’t figure out what happened. Hoping for some advice before taking bike in to HD

Where is the kill switch on a 2023 rh975s?

Well my friends, I'm join crowd. Been reading all things said as I'm experiencing with 05 heritage flstc. Have done all mention and throwed parts at it and still hit and miss. Haven't tried burning of sage lol but two weeks later still at shop, even mechanics are baffled. I try keep up to date on findings! That is finding this post also 🤔

Mine is simply not making contact inside the start switch since the last two times out in pouring rain, I assume there is moisture/corrosion in the contacts, will open it up tomorrow. The switch will engage if I keep,it held down for a second or two.

Ok..so as I suspected and told mechanic. He said it wasn't possible but I know it was. There's only couple things minus tracing/changing out wire. Turn out liner in solenoid on starter was wore. Practically brand new with just few cranks. Put new starter and bam! Everything good, they had me chasing money where if they had checked starter would save month downtime.
