I know next to nothing about the UK other than their roads, cities and byways are geared to smaller and slower vehicles than what we have here. So, maybe the "new study" has some validity in the UK. But I believe such a "new study" done here in the states would not convince me to start buying stock or otherwise investing in electric motorcycles.

Definitely going to continue seeing most of us suburban & rural riders wanting to go on long rides will continue to avoid this bike, but the UK style riders would probably equate to our urban center riders who probably would not venture to far out into the rural wilderness, who knows for sure until they poll folks in NYC, LA, SFO & Chicago

I don't know about "switching to", but definitely "adding to the stable".

If money were no object, like @Pred8er said, I'd love to add an electric bike to the stable. I test rode a Zero FX-S last summer, and it was some of the most fun I've ever had on a bike. That said, the mileage is horrible for anything other than around-town riding/commuting. If I didn't live somewhere that gets nailed with snow and ice ~6 months a year, I'd consider a Zero instead of a second car.

Until battery technology reaches Softail or Touring levels of mileage and charging can be done in about the same time it'd take to fill up with fuel, electric motorcycles will be fringe at best.

Sort of. But I believe the demographics of a LiveWire buyer are quite different than the traditional H-D buyer. And this forum is more about tradition...hence my conclusion.
This is true, as a non-traditional H-D buyer, we are definitely in the minority here, yet here I am.
The area that suffers for the non-traditional bikes, is the tech advice. While there is some, it's a bit lacking.
The VRSC specific forum (not group) covers that deficit.

I am from UK not sure where they get that info may be its correct maybe not but right now the price of an electric motor bike or car would put me right off.
Another issue is the mileage range also the charging time and lack of charging places absolute bollocks all these environment lovies are .
How on earth will they be able to provide the electric if an electric powered vehicle becomes the norm not enough power stations here in UK cant depend on wind power although we have plenty of that & as for solar power farms we dont get enough sunshine most of the time its either raining or grey as grey can be with the cloud cover .
No thanks will stick with petrol powered until I drop down dead

Salesman at Fort Bragg HD told me the motor company is planning on setting up a separate dealer network for the electric division, I was in there about 6 months earlier and they had one on the floor, went back in on new years day and none in sight, so I asked him about it..

I test rode a Livewire One at Wilkins HD in Barre VT. I'm picking mine up Saturday. It'll be nice to get back on a bike again.
Also hello, I've just joined, and am new to the marque.

Welcome and Congrat's, looking forward to hearing your ride reports !!!

Pick mine up this weekend, one of the first 200 (hd) VIN numbers. Black. Ridden em before, I can't afford a Tesla, so this'll have to do for my EV debut. "My next Harley is gonna be Electric" is not something I ever thought I'd say.
The haters? I understand, I really do, as you are I once was, read my tail light, just like on my stage 2 v-rod that you also said wasn't a harley.

Sorry, V-Rods werent all that fast, unless you're talking about a Destroyer which doesnt have a tag.
I was out running them 17 years ago.

And Livewires are even more unimpressive.

Takes 12.5 HOURS to fully recharge, 1 hour recharge to go only 13 miles! 😲

A Harley-Davidson LiveWire, the electric motorcycle offering from Harley-Davidson, has set an all-new record for elapsed time and top speed achieved by an electric-powered production motorcycle on a drag racing course. Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines rider and three-time Pro Stock Motorcycle champion, Angelle Sampey stepped off her Harley-Davidson FXDR Pro Stock competition motorcycle to pilot the LiveWire bike to capture world record-breaking runs on the quarter and eighth-mile, covering the eighth-mile distance in 7.017-seconds and the full quarter-mile course in just 11.156 seconds at 110.35 mph. The 2020 LiveWire motorcycle’s top speed is limited to 110 mph.
